The short version: if you change your mind before the puppy travels or is collected, you get your reservation back in full. No conditions, no restocking language, and no need to explain yourself.
The reservation
A reservation is 50 per cent of the listed price. It holds that specific puppy for you, and it comes off the total rather than being charged on top of it. It is not a fee for the right to visit, and it is not a fee for being considered. Any breeder charging you money simply to be allowed to see a puppy is running a different kind of business.
If you change your mind
Tell us before the puppy travels or is collected, and we refund the reservation in full. We would genuinely rather you changed your mind now than took a dog you were not sure about. Twelve years is a long time to be unsure.
If we change our mind
Occasionally we conclude that a placement is wrong after we have accepted a reservation, usually because something has come up in conversation that changes the picture. If that happens we say so, we refund in full, and we explain why.
If something is wrong with the puppy
If, before collection, our veterinarian finds a health problem that means the puppy should not go, we tell you immediately. You choose: a full refund, or a place on the list for another puppy. That decision is yours and we will not steer it.
After a puppy has gone home, the written health guarantee takes over. It runs for one year against serious hereditary conditions, and the terms are in the contract you signed rather than on this page.
Travel costs
Travel is arranged with a third-party transport service and is quoted separately. Once travel has been booked and paid for, whether it can be refunded depends on that service and on how much notice there is. We will always tell you the position before anything is booked, and we will not book anything without saying so first.
Returning a dog, at any point
Separately from anything to do with money: if you ever cannot keep a dog you had from us, at any age and for any reason, the dog comes back to us. That is in the contract for the whole of the dog’s life. It is not a refund arrangement, and it is not conditional on how long you have had the dog. It exists so that no Golden that leaves this house ever ends up in a shelter.
