Rye is the deepest coloured dog we have, and the gentlest. He is the one who notices moods. If somebody comes in from work quiet and goes and sits in the kitchen without saying anything, Rye is under the table within about a minute.
He is sensitive in the useful sense and occasionally in the inconvenient one. He does not care for raised voices, and he takes a telling off harder than he needs to. That sensitivity comes through in his puppies, who tend to be attentive and easy to train, and who do noticeably better with patient handling than with a heavy hand.
At six he is slowing down slightly, which mostly means he has become extremely good at finding the warmest spot in any room within about thirty seconds of entering it.

How we choose which dogs to breed
All of our parent dogs are health-checked by our veterinarian and looked over before any breeding. We breed only healthy, well-tempered dogs from our own line, and we have raised our litters with no known hereditary health problems. We do not make formal certification claims, because we do not run formal certification programmes, and a claim we cannot back is worth less than nothing to you.
Temperament decides more than looks do. A dog who is anxious, sharp, or unhappy around people does not go into a litter here, whatever else is true about him.
