Cream Golden Retrievers

Cream is the palest a Golden Retriever comes in, anywhere from a light champagne to something very close to white in strong sunlight. You will see it sold as “English cream”, and it is worth knowing exactly what that phrase is and is not.
It is a description of a look, most often associated with European show lines. It is not a recognised colour, it is not a separate breed, and it is not a certification. Nobody issues an English cream paper. When a website uses the phrase as though it were a grade rather than a description, that tells you something about the website.
What is true is that cream coats hide dirt beautifully and show every bit of pond water spectacularly, and that a cream puppy will usually pale a little further through its first year rather than darkening. The pigment on the nose, lips and eye rims stays dark, and it should. A Golden Retriever with a pink nose is not a rarer colour, it is a fault.

A Golden Retriever's coat can only carry one pigment, and every shade from the palest cream to deep mahogany is that single pigment expressed more or less strongly. There is no such thing as a white Golden Retriever, and no such thing as a black one. Colour tells you nothing about health or temperament, and we price a puppy on the individual dog rather than on the shade of its coat.
